Mutoriah is an afro electro pop artist, producer, multi-talented instrumentalist, and music director, based in Nairobi Kenya. He is currently the official pianist for “Sauti Sol” and a co-founding producer at “Me & My Cousin Entertainment”. 

Since he was introduced into the music domain by his father he has since honed his musical skills and with the release of his debut album “Dive In” in 2019, propelled himself to be one of Kenya’s most creative artists and music producers. 

PRODUCER

As a producer, Mutoriah’s has risen from being an amateur producer to co-producing for the award winning music groups and being featured on the pan-African TV show Coke Studio Africa.

Mutoriah’s production journey began when he learned how to record and overdub the songs on his father’s computer led by his intuitive and innovative character. Although he was already producing songs for his schoolmates while in high school, his mainstream career officially kicked off in 2016 when he joined genge pioneering label – Calif Records, as a resident producer. 

In 2017 he joined forces with his cousin DJ 10Tonnes to start a record label, ‘Me & My Cousin Entertainment’ -an indie record label that aspires to create soulful, conscious, entertaining, and timeless music. Under the stable, Mutoriah has since produced hit records for several artists including Ayrosh, Serro, and Njerae. 

Mutoriah co-produced Sauti Sol’s hit song “Rewind” that featured Khaligraph Jones and is currently a resident producer at Sol Generation Records and was behind the hit records, “Lucy” & “Favorite Song” both by Bensoul. 

INSTRUMENTALIST

From playing for over 200 musicians, to forming his own live outfit – Tha Movement, Mutoriah has solidified his stature as a multi-instrumentalist with a forte in piano, acoustic guitar, and the bass guitar. 

SINGER SONGWRITER

In 2019 Mutoriah introduced his singer-songwriter persona to the world with the release of the acclaimed “Dive In” and has since performed at various festivals including the US-based ‘Essence Festival’ in 2019.

DIVE IN 

The self-produced 12-track album featured the sultry vocals of Xenia Manasseh, rap prowess of Steph Kapela, the raspy mugithi resonance of Ayrosh, heartfelt expressions of Njerae, charming lyrics of the crooner Bensoul and eccentric live instrument sounds of Tha Movement. Released in a sold out concert on 22nd June 2019, the album came as a proclamation of Mutoriah’s mission to inspire people to stop being afraid, get out of their shells and share their light with the world. Since then, Mutoriah has been booked to perform in various events including NaiFest and Newsic Room. He has also been featured in several TV, radio shows, magazines and blogs.
