KELELE SESSIONS
We launched Kelele Sessions In 2019. An intimate listening platform created to bring together musicians, producers, journalists, and cultural thinkers in a shared creative space. The concept was simple, but intentional. Create a room where artists could present their work before it entered the wider industry ecosystem, allowing space for conversation, reflection and honest feedback. Designed as a listening room, not a concert.
Artists shared unreleased music, works in progress, and ideas behind their craft while engaging in open dialogue with a carefully curated audience of peers and cultural stakeholders.
In that room, hierarchy disappeared. Producers, writers, artists, journalists, and other creatives sat together as equals. Listening, debating, and exchanging perspectives about the direction of Kenyan music.
The name Kelele (Swahili word for noise) captured the energy of a new generation of artists whose voices were beginning to reshape the sound of Nairobi.
The artists featured here represent the first wave of musicians who participated in Kelele Sessions.
