CONSISTENCY WINS THE DAY.
Chris Kaiga set his footprint in the Kenyan music industry with the hit song Zimenice. He started his music career as a beat maker after peaking interest from fellow friends.Thereafter he developed a love for songwriting and rapping. Chris established his space as a rapper in music groups and freelance collaborations with other musicians after which he choose to branch out to be a solo artist.
His love and passion for music drove him to create himself a space to explore and practice it. This prompted him to start a music studio with producer, business partner and close friend, Ashi bars. Hence came ‘UP n UP records’. In the period of 3 years UP n UP has grown to be a musical enterprise and home to many vocalists and rappers. Chris’s team has produced numerous tracks and hit songs such as ‘naiwake’ by the Ochungulo family and ‘zimenice’ by Chris kaiga himself.
Chris describes his music genre as Debe. This being a revolutionised version of local Kenyan hiphop, dance and afro beat. Debe is set out to pay homage to the journey of discovering the full potential of Kenyan music over the years. He does this by identifying his very own unique sound, lyrics and general content of his music. Chris’s goal as an artist is to get his audience in a feel-good mood by mildly upbeat tunes and to emphasise the joy of truly embracing being a Kenyan.
Chris offers advice to underground artists trying to break into the music industry by prompting them to remain consistent in their music making process. In addition, to make music essentially for their target audience while still staying true to their talents, passions and primary love for music.
